美喬治亞小鎮花百萬買一脫衣舞廳燒掉

美國「喬治亞州」東北部一座小鎮花了將近一百萬美元(約合新台幣三千多萬元)買下一家脫衣舞俱樂部，不過，他們可不打算經營，而是放了一把火，將俱樂部燒掉，關門大吉。

這座名叫「拉佛尼亞」的小鎮原本可以花一百萬美元為當地的水處理工廠進行現代化升級，不過，鎮民沒有這樣做，反而決定買下當地一家叫做「色情餐廳」的脫衣舞俱樂部，隨後立即動手拆除招牌，並放了一把火，將餐廳燒掉，讓這家妨害風化的俱樂部從此關門大吉。

這座「色情餐廳」是一名佛羅里達州商人「蘇利文」在2001年所開設，當市市民多次向法院提出告訴，要求予以關閉，但是「蘇利文」的律師都成功地辯護說，脫衣舞表演是一種表達自由，獲得憲法保護。前年「蘇利文」去世，但脫衣舞俱樂部依舊繼續經營，「拉佛尼亞」小鎮居民經過不斷地談判，終於買下餐廳燒掉，讓這家色情餐廳從此消失。 中時電子報｜｜美喬治亞小鎮花百萬買一脫衣舞廳燒掉

Cafe Risque was a little more true to its name than residents of a small northeast Georgia town could take.

The town of Lavonia shelled out nearly $1 million Tuesday to buy and shut down the strip club along Interstate 85. Then, the city quickly burned the interstate signs advertising the club, which was popular with truckers.

Cafe Risque was opened in 2001 by Alachua, Fla., businessman Jerry Sullivan. The city went to court several times to close it but was never successful.

Lavonia has since passed an ordinance outlawing adult entertainment businesses.

Sullivan died in his sleep in 2006 at age 47, but the club continued to operate under new ownership. The city was finally able to buy the club after negotiations.
